At the historic University of Cambridge Department of Biochemistry celebrated its 100-year anniversary in 2024, and ahead of the centenary, wanted to evaluate and refresh its brand, as well as create a multi-channel centenary campaign to celebrate and reflect on its history, legacy, and future.​

Approach

In collaboration with digital agency Surface Impression, the project encompassed an integrated renewal of their digital and visitor experience, complete with:​

  • 8' wide printed timeline exhibit in one of their two departmental building foyers, plus digital version with backend CMS​

  • Large-scale wall graphics, and digital projections where site conservation prevented the possibility of print installations

  • Wayfinding signage, digital templates, merchandise, and other brand collateral​

Leading up to the brand launch, this project provided a strategic opportunity for a communications task force of department stakeholders to align on a unified vision for their brand voice moving into the future. The anniversary celebration and launch event was a huge success, with members reporting a sense of pride and belonging from seeing and engaging with their department's legacy.
