At the historic University of Cambridge Department of Biochemistry celebrated its 100-year anniversary in 2024, and ahead of the centenary, wanted to evaluate and refresh its brand, as well as create a multi-channel centenary campaign to celebrate and reflect on its history, legacy, and future.

Approach
In collaboration with digital agency Surface Impression, the project encompassed an integrated renewal of their digital and visitor experience, complete with:
8' wide printed timeline exhibit in one of their two departmental building foyers, plus digital version with backend CMS
Large-scale wall graphics, and digital projections where site conservation prevented the possibility of print installations
Wayfinding signage, digital templates, merchandise, and other brand collateral
Leading up to the brand launch, this project provided a strategic opportunity for a communications task force of department stakeholders to align on a unified vision for their brand voice moving into the future. The anniversary celebration and launch event was a huge success, with members reporting a sense of pride and belonging from seeing and engaging with their department's legacy.
