Approach
Bridging Evolution was a team project based on the theme "Bridge the Gap" and was created for the 2023 Vesalius Trust-a-thon, a two-week fundraiser challenge held by The Vesalius Trust for Visual Communication in the Health Sciences. This is a scholarship organization supporting graduate student research in medical and scientific communication.
Our team of five former classmates were inspired by the concept of bridging the evolutionary gap and the science behind how life evolved on Earth. Together, our team brainstormed, researched, sketched, illustrated, designed, and compiled a complete four-poster series in just two weeks.
From the origin of whales to the connection between humans and apes, this poster series highlights key transitional fossils bridging the gap between two ancestral groups of animals. Featuring the Archaeopteryx, Australopithecus, Pakicetus, and Tiktaalik, each transitional fossil species is illustrated in a bold monochromatic style and described with simple facts for all audiences interested in paleontology. "Bridging Evolution" illuminates and celebrates these pivotal chapters in the evolutionary saga for their importance in deciphering the story of life's history on Earth.
